You hang up from a sales call and feel like you need a shower. You know the steps. You’ve read the books. You still put off the next call.

Julia Kline says that is not a skill problem. She calls it a sales wound, and in this episode she shows you how to spot yours.

Julia Kline is a leadership coach, bestselling author, and keynote speaker. She helps founders and solopreneurs improve their sales without feeling pushy or fake. In this conversation, she explains why sales strategy often fails: people already know what to do, but hidden beliefs stop them. She calls these beliefs sales wounds and walks through all six, starting with the anti-selling wound and the visibility wound. Julia shares a daily money habit, a writing exercise to catch self-doubt, and a real story about pricing.

Many founders know how to sell but still avoid it. Julia Kline, a leadership coach and author of Sleaze Free Selling, explains six sales wounds, the hidden beliefs behind that avoidance. Readers learn how to spot their own wound, use a daily money habit and a writing exercise, and price their work with more confidence.

### **Who this is for**

Founders and solopreneurs who know how to sell but keep putting it off. Also leaders who want to sell with heart and still hit their goals.

### **Key lessons**

**1\. Knowing what to do is not the same as doing it.**
Most sales training tells you what to do. Julia says many people have already taken the courses and read the books. What stops them is a belief, not a missing step. After she published *Sleaze Free Selling*, readers kept telling her the same thing: great book, but I still can’t do it.

**2\. Two wounds hit founders the most.**
The anti-selling wound sounds like “I don’t want to be pushy, so I won’t sell.” The visibility wound is the fear of being seen. It shows up as the starving artist with work on a shelf, the hesitant innovator who hides a better way, or the self-doubting procrastinator who keeps adding one more certification.

**3\. Honest pricing beats guessing.**
Julia quoted $4,000 a month, and the client hesitated. She called back, shared that it was a test price, and offered $3,000\. The client stayed about three years. Her point: be open about where you are, and don’t let price be the reason a good client walks.

### **Practical steps**

- **Look at your money every day.** Write down every penny you spend. Open your bank accounts and look. It takes two or three minutes.
- **Write the honest message.** Put on paper what you want to say, and what scares you. Do it in writing, not in your head, so you can catch the fears that aren’t true.
- **Set a price rule.** For example: five sales at today’s price, then raise it. If bookings stop, step back.

### **FAQ**

**What is a sales wound?**
It is a hidden belief that makes selling feel gross, scary, or hard. Julia Kline names six of them.

**Can I fix a sales wound on my own?**
Julia says almost always you need someone else. You don’t know what you don’t know, so a coach or mentor can be your mirror.

**Is relying on referrals a good way to avoid pushy selling?**
It can be the anti-selling wound in disguise. Julia says to find the middle ground: know your value and understand your customer’s pain.
