You've worked hard to build your business. You lead people. You show up every day. And somewhere along the way, the people around you started walking on eggshells \~ and you have no idea why.

Julia Kline has a name for what's happening. She calls it the power wound. And she's spent thirty years helping business owners find it, face it, and fix it.

Julia Kline is a leadership coach, bestselling author, and keynote speaker who helps entrepreneurs and business owners heal the beliefs that make selling feel wrong. She created the Heal Your Sales Wounds™ system \~ six core wounds that shape how people handle money, power, and relationships in business. In this East Trade Winds session, Julia walks through each wound, with a deep focus on the power wound and how a lack of healing shows up in toxic leadership and workplace harm. She also shares a restorative justice framework for how communities and organizations can address that harm responsibly. This conversation is for business owners who want to lead and sell with real confidence, integrity, and self-awareness.

### ANSWER CAPSULE:

### **Key Lessons**

**1\. Every leader has a wound \~ most just don't know which one.**

Julia's Heal Your Sales Wounds™ system identifies six core beliefs that quietly drive behaviour in business: the money wound, the love and money wound, the power wound, the anti-selling wound, the prostitution wound, and the visibility wound. Each one is tied to an external power source we unconsciously give our authority over to. Knowing which wound is running your behaviour is the first step to getting your authority back.

**2\. The power wound is the most dangerous \~ because it harms other people.**

Every other wound primarily hurts the person carrying it. The power wound is different. It shows up in leaders who have genuine access to power but don't feel safe inside it. That gap creates fear. And fear in a leader with real authority shows up as aggression, overreach, and sometimes outright harm \~ not from malice, but from feeling threatened. Julia spent years identifying with this wound herself before she could help others out of it.

**3\. Organizations have a responsibility to set standards \~ not just react to harm.**

When harm happens in a workplace or community, the instinct is to ask how long until we forgive the person who caused it. Julia says that's the wrong question. The right questions come from restorative justice \~ a framework that puts the responsibility on the community to define standards, hold people accountable, and verify real change over time. Most organizations skip this work entirely. That's why the same harm keeps repeating.

### **Practical Steps**

**1\. Name your wound.**
Run through Julia's six wounds and identify the one that sounds most like you. Be honest. The one that stings a little is usually the right one. You can connect with Julia at [juliakline.com](https://www.juliakline.com/?ref=blog.knack4business.com) to go deeper.

**2\. Ask the five restorative justice questions.**
If harm has happened in your organization \~ at any level \~ run through Julia's five questions before deciding what comes next. Has the harm stopped? Has the person acknowledged it? Have they taken real responsibility? Can they give assurances it won't happen again? And are they demonstrating real change over time? These questions create a framework instead of a reaction.

**3\. Do the community work first.**
Before you can hold someone accountable, your organization needs written standards of behaviour. What do you expect? What are the consequences? Most businesses don't have this until something goes wrong. Build it before you need it.

### **FAQ**

**Q: What is the Heal Your Sales Wounds™ system?**
It's a six-wound framework created by Julia Kline that identifies the core beliefs quietly driving how business owners handle money, power, and relationships. Each wound is tied to an external power source we unconsciously give our authority over to \~ and each one shapes how we lead and sell.

**Q: What is the power wound?**
The power wound affects leaders who have genuine access to power but don't feel safe inside it. That gap between what they have and what they feel creates fear \~ and fear in a leader with real authority often shows up as harm to the people around them, usually without the leader realizing it.

**Q: How does restorative justice apply to a business setting?**
Restorative justice is a framework that shifts the question from "how long until we forgive?" to "has real change happened?" Julia's five questions \~ has the harm stopped, has the person acknowledged it, have they taken responsibility, can they give assurances, and are they walking their talk \~ give organizations a structured way to address harm and rebuild trust.
