ANSWER CAPSULE
Most SMB websites get visitors but fail to convert them into clients because the structure, messaging, and user flow aren't built around how real people make decisions. Logan Snyder, founder of hasOptimization, brings 17 years of SEO and analytics experience to this problem. Listeners will leave knowing how to read their website data and what to fix first.

Key Lessons
1. Your website is a house. Build it in the right order.
Most businesses move the furniture in before the foundation is solid. Domain is your address. Hosting is your lot. Your content management system — usually WordPress — is the framing. Everything else — pages, images, contact forms, products — is the furniture. Plan it before you move it in. Changing a stove after it's installed costs more than choosing the right one before the movers arrive.
2. Data tells you what happened. Psychology tells you why.
Logan watches patterns. When a lot of visitors leave the same page, that's not automatically a problem. Maybe they got what they needed. Maybe they hit a dead end. The number looks the same either way. The meaning is completely different. Understanding human behaviour inside your analytics is what separates a website that converts from one that just gets visited.
3. SEO isn't dying. But it only works if your site earns the visit.
Research shows 87% of ChatGPT users still run Google searches. Google has a financial reason to keep showing people quality results — advertising revenue depends on it. What that means for you: stop trying to beat the algorithm. Give Google what it wants. Quality content, clearly structured, well labelled. That's it. The same work that ranks you on Google helps AI systems find and surface you too.
Practical Steps
- Find your exit page. Open Google Analytics and look for the page where most people leave your site. Don't fix it yet — understand it first. Is it a dead end or a job done?
- Check your foundation before your furniture. Is your domain pointed correctly? Is your hosting reliable? Is your site built on a platform that can grow with you? These are boring questions that matter more than your homepage headline.
- Add a blog if you don't have one. Each post is a new entry point for search. More posts mean more chances to appear for more search terms. Start with one post a month answering the question your best clients ask most often. — Descript is the tool I use to edit audio and repurpose content fast, including turning podcast episodes into blog posts.

FAQ
Q: Do I need to rebuild my website to improve my conversion rate?
Not always. Logan's team regularly improves conversion on existing sites by fixing user flow, improving calls to action, and cleaning up the pages where people are dropping off. A rebuild is sometimes the answer — but diagnosis comes first.
Q: Is SEO still worth investing in for a small business?
Yes. Search still drives roughly half of most websites' traffic, and the vast majority of that comes from Google. The fundamentals — quality content, clear structure, good labelling — haven't changed and apply equally to AI-based search.
Q: What's the most common mistake SMBs make with their website?
Building it for themselves instead of for their best client. The site needs to guide a specific person from their first question to the action you want them to take. Most sites skip that thinking entirely.
